A Day in the Life of a Indian Transgender Girl – Vanila

6am: Wake up, dress, breakfast and prayers.
10.00am: Leave home with her daughter Soundarya,
10.30am: chat with boyfriend Atul and few friends in the Railways station and catch the train to Villupuram to Chennai,Tamil Nadu ,India
12.30pm: Reach destination to Chennai, start collecting money with bystanders and shop owners ,may get $4 to $20 dollars in  a day.
5.30pm: catch the train to Chennai to Villupuram.
9pm: Return home
10pm: cook and have food with the transgender family.
11.30pm: Sleep
This is the daily routine for Vanilla (26).
Velmurugan to Vanila (26) born and bought up down southern part of Tamilnadu, she is the only boy child in her family and one elder sister . Their parents raised her as a girl, when she was in age 10 she was very much different from other boys, she was unable to gather with boys. Many started discriminating for showing femininity resulted she fled her home and took refugee with her new transgender family in the same town.

When Vanilla was accepted into her transgender family, she underwent her toughest challenge her physical transformation, which is the painful operation known as Thaiyamma or Nivran, or rebirth – involves the removal of the penis and testicles and is carried out at home while the  awake without any medication which was done by senior transgender and taken hormonal injection to enhance breast, which celebrated as puberty ceremony.

Now  she laugh, cry, love, despise, dream, despair and do everything with the transgender family without any fear, and she have many transgendered to love her.

From Niranjan to Nirosha

“Transgender community deserve dignity and respect that most people  take as a granted”

I am Nirosha from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh,India, i came out as transgender in age of 18,since then i am with transgender family , my family and society discriminate a lot , they treated me very badly, i am not educated , I  live my life with begging and blessing in the train and dancing in the streets, what so ever  i am happy now.
